Preview of '100 Days of Deception' Highlights Espionage and Romance
The new drama '100 Days of Deception' from tvN has released a preview of its first episode, setting the stage for a captivating period spy romance. Directed by Yoo In Shik, known for his work on 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' and the 'Dr. Romantic' series, the show is set against the backdrop of the Japanese occupation of Korea.
The narrative centers on Lee Ga Kyeong, portrayed by Kim You Jung, who is recognized as the top pickpocket in Gyeongseong, the historical name for present-day Seoul. In a twist of fate, she becomes an undercover spy for the independence movement, infiltrating the Japanese Government-General of Korea. Her journey leads her to cross paths with Kim Tae Woong, played by Park Jinyoung of GOT7, who is the adopted son of a high-ranking official in the administration.
In the recently unveiled preview, viewers see Lee Ga Kyeong joyfully sorting through her daily haul with her companions. However, her excitement turns to disappointment when she discovers that the suitcase she stole contains mostly clothing, rather than the valuables she hoped for. Among her findings, she discovers a small sack of rice, which prompts a nostalgic reaction from her partner Inoma, who remarks on the rarity of white rice during that time. Lee Ga Kyeong, however, decides to sell the rice instead of consuming it.
Unexpected Discoveries and Financial Disappointments
As she continues to examine the wallet she pilfered from Kim Tae Woong, her disappointment grows as she finds less cash than expected. Inoma attempts to negotiate a cut of her findings, but his calculations fall short, leading Lee Ga Kyeong to humorously question his abilities. The wallet also reveals a student ID card indicating that Kim Tae Woong is a student at the University of Tokyo, raising questions about his presence in Gyeongseong.
