Plasan and ASFIR 4X4 Unveil STORMER Tactical Vehicle for Special Operations

At the AUSA event in Washington, D.C., Plasan and ASFIR 4X4 unveiled the STORMER, a highly modular light tactical vehicle tailored for special operations forces and rapid-response teams. This vehicle is designed to meet the increasing demands for mobility, payload capacity, and operational flexibility in challenging environments.

The STORMER can transport up to 12 personnel and carry more than 1,000 kg (2,200 lb.) of equipment. It combines the logistical simplicity of a commercial vehicle with the capabilities required for military operations, making it suitable for various missions, including reconnaissance and medical evacuation.

Built on a rugged Jeep Gladiator platform, the STORMER is powered by a 280-horsepower, 3.6-liter gasoline engine and features an eight-speed automatic transmission. This combination ensures the vehicle can handle demanding operational conditions while maintaining high off-road mobility.

The vehicle's reinforced chassis and driveline, which includes upgraded Dana axles, enhance its durability and payload capacity. A modular roll-over protection system (ROPS) provides occupant safety while ensuring 360-degree visibility for situational awareness.

One of the key features of the STORMER is its adaptability to changing mission requirements. The rear platform can be configured for troop transport, logistics, medical evacuation, and the integration of specialized equipment such as radar and counter-UAS systems. A three-position folding rear door facilitates quick troop ingress and egress, as well as secure transport of mission equipment.

Advanced Features for Mission Flexibility

Incorporating a 24-volt electrical system, blackout driving capability, and multiple antenna mounting points, the STORMER supports the integration of various mission systems tailored to customer needs. The extensive use of commercially available components simplifies maintenance and logistics, ensuring long-term sustainment.

The development of the STORMER reflects Plasan's over 40 years of experience in vehicle protection and automotive engineering. Collaborating with ASFIR 4X4, the vehicle combines advanced defense engineering with expertise in off-road vehicle systems.

Cleared for Release

"STORMER was developed to address a growing operational requirement for a rapidly deployable platform capable of carrying larger teams and mission equipment without compromising mobility," said a representative from Plasan. This vehicle is designed to be simple to operate, maintain, and sustain while meeting the rigorous demands of military users.

The unveiling of the STORMER marks a significant advancement in tactical vehicle capabilities, providing special operations forces with a versatile platform that enhances their operational effectiveness in various mission scenarios.
