Rostec Unveils Nerekhta-E Robot for Military Operations
Rostec has unveiled the Nerekhta-E, a cutting-edge robot designed for military applications. This unmanned combat ground vehicle (UCGV) is notable for its modular design, which enables it to serve multiple roles including that of a scout, a gun platform against both ground and aerial threats, and a medevac vehicle for transporting wounded troops.
The Nerekhta-E is equipped with advanced features that enhance its operational capabilities. It can be armed with a 12.7mm machine gun, a 30mm automatic grenade launcher, or anti-tank guided missiles, making it a formidable presence on the battlefield. The robot can reach a maximum speed of 20 km/h and has an operational time of up to four hours while in motion, or up to 20 hours in reconnaissance mode. It can carry a payload of up to 1,000 kg, allowing for significant versatility in its missions.
Alexander Mikheev, Director General of Rostec’s Rosoboronexport, emphasized that the Nerekhta-E is the first Russian UCGV to successfully complete full-scale official tests. He noted that the robot was developed with a focus on modern warfare, which prioritizes minimizing risks to operators and incorporates network-centric capabilities along with artificial intelligence.
Advancements in Unmanned Combat Technology
The introduction of the Nerekhta-E marks a significant advancement in military technology, reflecting ongoing efforts to enhance the capabilities of unmanned systems in combat scenarios. As nations increasingly turn to robotics and AI to bolster their military effectiveness, the Nerekhta-E stands out as a key development in this evolving landscape.
