New Drama '100 Days of Deception' Features Kim Hyun Joo and Lee Moo Saeng
The upcoming drama '100 Days of Deception' has unveiled new stills featuring Kim Hyun Joo, Lee Moo Saeng, and Jin Sun Kyu. Directed by Yoo In Shik, known for 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' and the 'Dr. Romantic' series, this period spy romance is set over 100 days during the Japanese occupation of Korea.
The narrative centers on Lee Ga Kyeong, portrayed by Kim You Jung, who is the top pickpocket in Gyeongseong, present-day Seoul. She becomes an undercover spy for the independence movement, infiltrating the Japanese Government-General of Korea. In this dangerous environment, she encounters interpreter Kim Tae Woong, played by GOT7’s Park Jinyoung, who is also known as Sato Hideo, the adopted son of the Inspector-General of Korea.
Kim Hyun Joo takes on the role of Yoo So Ran, a sharpshooter and prominent member of the anti-Japanese resistance group Gugukdan. As a leading figure in the group, Yoo So Ran is characterized by her exceptional marksmanship and a personal quest for revenge that evolves into a commitment to a greater cause. In the newly released stills, she is depicted commanding attention as she discusses plans with fellow members while confidently wielding a heavy rifle.
Describing her character, Kim Hyun Joo stated, "She is someone who has endured for a long time, having given up her own life and held on solely to her personal desire for revenge." She emphasized that Yoo So Ran's journey, initially driven by personal motives, ultimately transforms into a dedication to her country. Kim Hyun Joo focused on portraying the emotional evolution of her character, noting how her heart, once cold and hardened, begins to change through her interactions with others.
Character Dynamics and Conflicts Unfold
Lee Moo Saeng portrays Yoo Philip, a Korean American correspondent and member of Gugukdan, who is also Yoo So Ran’s husband in a marriage of convenience. His role as a journalist allows him to exert pressure on the Political Affairs Director of the Japanese Government-General of Korea. One of the stills shows Yoo Philip looking at Yoo So Ran with concern, reflecting his character's depth. Lee Moo Saeng described Yoo Philip as someone with a cool head and a passionate heart, emphasizing his ability to make reasoned decisions in the face of danger.
Opposing the protagonists is Jin Sun Kyu, who plays Sato Shinichi, the Political Affairs Director of the Japanese Government-General of Korea. As a high-ranking official in the colonial administration, Sato Shinichi is depicted as ruthless in his pursuit of success. In the stills, he appears unfazed even while pointing a gun at someone, showcasing his menacing presence.
Clearance Granted
Sato Shinichi is also the target of Yoo So Ran’s assassination plot. Unaware of Lee Ga Kyeong's infiltration under the guise of a new interpreter trainee named Geum Seo Hee, he finds himself caught between the two women's revenge schemes, raising questions about how their actions will ultimately affect his fate. Jin Sun Kyu described his character as a man at the center of evil, someone who crosses moral lines in pursuit of his ambitions, disregarding the lives and dignity of others.
