Marathon and Watches of Espionage Unveil Titanium SAR Watch

Marathon Watches has teamed up with Watches of Espionage to launch their first collaborative timepiece, the Marathon x W.O.E. Titanium SAR. This watch is set to make its debut on Thursday and is expected to attract attention due to its unique features and historical connections.

Marathon, known for its military-issued watches, and Watches of Espionage, an online journal exploring the ties between watches and military history, have created a watch that combines both brands' strengths. The Titanium SAR represents a first for both entities: it is the first collaborative watch for Watches of Espionage and the first titanium model for Marathon.

The design of the Titanium SAR draws heavily from the original Marathon SAR released in 2001, but it introduces modern elements and materials. The watch measures 41mm in diameter, 48mm lug-to-lug, and 14mm thick, with a robust bezel that enhances its military aesthetic.

Notable Design Elements and Symbolism

Distinctive features include the W.O.E. Spearhead insignia, which pays homage to the CIA's predecessor, the O.S.S., engraved on both the crown and caseback. Additionally, a red "WOE" wordmark is positioned at six o'clock, and the minute track references the four-minute window utilized by CIA officers during covert meetings.

Cleared to File

Inside the watch, an upgraded Sellita SW200-2B movement powers the timepiece, offering a no-date variant with a 65-hour power reserve. The Marathon x W.O.E. Titanium SAR is limited to just 200 pieces, priced at $2,250, with pre-orders opening at 1400 US EST on September 24. Deliveries are expected to begin in January 2027.

This collaboration is noteworthy not only for its design but also for the transparency both brands have shown regarding the watch's place in Marathon's product lineup. Following this limited edition, Marathon plans to release a titanium GSAR model in October, ensuring that fans of the brand will have more options in the future. The Titanium SAR is a significant step for Marathon, and its unique features are likely to resonate with collectors and enthusiasts alike.
