Cancellation of 'Ride or Die' Series on Prime Video After One Season
The buddy spy comedy series 'Ride or Die,' starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham, has been canceled after its first season on Prime Video. The streaming service decided not to renew the show, which premiered in July and quickly gained popularity, often ranking at No. 1 in the US on the platform, as reported by Deadline.
In its initial days, 'Ride or Die' garnered significant attention, making Luminate's weekly rankings with 927,000 views, which was double that of 'Elle' and nearly four times that of 'Off Campus,' both of which have been renewed. The series also made it into Nielsen's Top 10, debuting at No. 8 on the overall streaming chart and No. 3 among original content, with 869 million minutes viewed. In its second week, it climbed to No. 4 overall and No. 2 among originals.
During its first two weeks, 'Ride or Die' became Prime Video's most-watched new scripted series of the past year. The show received positive reviews from both critics and audiences, achieving a 96% score from critics and an 85% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
