Nigerian Army Graduates Over 3,000 Recruits in Ebonyi
The Nigerian Army has officially graduated over 3,000 recruits at the Depot Nigerian Army in Amasiri-Edda, Ebonyi State. Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu addressed the new soldiers, urging them to uphold discipline, loyalty, and professionalism as they embark on their military careers. This passing-out parade is seen as a significant reinforcement of the Army's manpower, aligning with the Federal Government's initiatives to tackle security challenges and bolster national defense.
According to Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, this graduation follows similar ceremonies at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria and a new training facility in Osogbo, Osun State. These events reflect the Army's ongoing efforts to expand its force generation capacity. Shaibu highlighted that the rigorous training the recruits underwent has equipped them to face modern warfare and Nigeria's evolving security landscape.
He emphasized the importance of vigilance and mission focus, reminding the recruits of the substantial investment made in their training and the expectation for them to demonstrate courage and professionalism in service to the nation. The establishment of the Amasiri-Edda Depot is viewed as a strategic enhancement of the Army's training infrastructure, contributing to its transformation agenda.
Ebonyi State Governor Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru praised the Army for establishing the depot, calling it a vital national asset that has improved security and stimulated local economic activities. He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to collaborating with the Armed Forces and other security agencies to promote peace and development in the region.
The graduation ceremony was attended by senior military officers, government officials, traditional rulers, families of the recruits, and other dignitaries. It featured a ceremonial parade, precision drills, and the presentation of awards to outstanding recruits, underscoring the Army's dedication to building a disciplined and combat-ready force.
