Israeli Man Arrested for Alleged Contact with Lebanese Agent
Hamdan Hamdan, a 32-year-old resident of Majd al-Krum, was arrested recently on suspicion of maintaining contact with a foreign agent from Lebanon and executing security-related missions at her direction. This arrest was the result of a collaborative operation involving the Israel Police's Lahav 433 national unit, which specializes in international crime investigations, and the Israel Security Agency, commonly known as Shin Bet.
According to a joint statement from the Israel Police and Shin Bet, the investigation uncovered that Hamdan had been in contact with the foreign agent for several months. During this time, he was allegedly asked to carry out various security-related tasks. The authorities indicated that Hamdan was aware that he was communicating with a foreign agent from Lebanon.
The investigation further revealed attempts to compensate Hamdan for his actions. The foreign operative reportedly sought to purchase products in Israel and transfer them to him as a form of payment. This aspect of the case highlights the methods used by foreign agents to recruit individuals for espionage and other security-related missions.
