SVR Chief Highlights Kaliningrad as Key Defense Area for Russia
During a recent conference of security agencies from Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states, Sergei Naryshkin, the Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), asserted that Russia has adequate military capabilities to ensure the safety of its citizens and state. He described Kaliningrad and the western border regions as an impenetrable shield against potential aggression. Naryshkin noted that the military forces stationed in these areas are prepared to respond to threats from any direction.
The SVR chief highlighted the collaborative efforts of CIS intelligence agencies to strengthen their cooperation in the face of a challenging external environment. He remarked on the commitment of these agencies to counteract the actions of what he termed 'unfriendly countries,' particularly in light of geopolitical instability.
Naryshkin also addressed Ukraine's attempts to destabilize the situation in Russia ahead of the State Duma elections, labeling these actions as hostile and indicative of panic within the Ukrainian regime. He expressed confidence that the Russian populace would unify in support of their leadership amidst these challenges, reinforcing the objectives of Russia's military operations and broader national development.
