New Drama '100 Days of Deception' Explores Espionage in Japanese Occupied Korea
tvN has unveiled its upcoming drama '100 Days of Deception,' directed by Yoo In Shik, known for his work on 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo' and the 'Dr. Romantic' series. This period spy romance is set against the backdrop of the Japanese occupation of Korea and spans a critical 100 days.
The narrative centers on Lee Ga Kyeong, portrayed by Kim You Jung, who is recognized as the top pickpocket in Gyeongseong, the historical name for present-day Seoul. In a twist of fate, she becomes an undercover spy for the independence movement, infiltrating the Japanese Government-General of Korea. During her mission, she encounters Kim Tae Woong, played by GOT7’s Park Jinyoung, who is also known as Sato Hideo. He is the adopted son of the Inspector-General of Korea, a high-ranking official in the colonial administration.
The newly released poster captures the moment of their fateful first meeting at a train station, where Lee Ga Kyeong, disguised as an interpreter trainee, crosses paths with Kim Tae Woong during her days as a pickpocket. The poster depicts a bustling crowd on the station platform, with Lee Ga Kyeong concealing her true identity behind an elegant facade. Kim Tae Woong's gaze towards her is ambiguous, suggesting either intrigue or suspicion.
The tagline on the poster reads, '1932 Gyeongseong, the most dangerous lie begins,' hinting at the intricate web of deception that will unfold throughout the series. The production team emphasized that Gyeongseong Station is not just a meeting point for the two characters but also a significant location that sets the stage for the entire storyline. Viewers will witness how various characters converge at the station, each with their own motives and objectives, leading to intertwined relationships from the outset.
As the drama unfolds, audiences can expect to see how a dangerous lie will alter the destinies of Lee Ga Kyeong and Kim Tae Woong. '100 Days of Deception' is set to premiere on October 10, 2026, at 9:10 p.m. KST, promising a thrilling exploration of espionage and romance during a tumultuous period in history.
