Ajit Doval and Wang Yi Discuss India-China Border Issues in Beijing
National Security Adviser Ajit Doval engaged in significant diplomatic talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Beijing, marking the 25th round of discussions focused on the India-China boundary question. The meetings were centered on maintaining peace and tranquility along the border while also advancing economic and political ties between the two countries.
Earlier in the day, Doval met with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng, where they discussed strategies to strengthen peace in border areas and improve overall India-China relations. This dialogue aligns with the consensus reached by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping during their previous meetings.
Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, noted the positive momentum in bilateral relations, highlighting that Modi and Xi had met twice in the past two years, resulting in important agreements. Han emphasized the need for both nations to manage their relationship strategically, build mutual trust, and enhance cooperation while properly addressing differences.
Doval's visit to Beijing, which lasted two days, comes amid a thaw in India-China relations following several high-level engagements. The leaders have reiterated that India and China should view each other as development partners rather than rivals, stressing that their differences should not escalate into disputes.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs has previously stated that stable relations based on mutual respect and sensitivity are crucial for the development of both nations and for fostering a multipolar world in Asia.
