MHP Leader Urges Israel to Cease Provocations Against Türkiye
Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), has urged Israel to stop its provocations against Türkiye and military operations that jeopardize the country's national security. This statement follows the Israeli government's recent attack on a military base in northern Syria, which is situated approximately 70 kilometers from the Turkish border. The Israeli government claimed that Türkiye intended to reconstruct the facility and deploy troops there, a claim that both Ankara and Damascus have denied.
Bahçeli characterized the Israeli actions as a manifestation of historical expansionism and an unacceptable assault on law, peace, and regional stability. He emphasized that neutralizing Israel's aggressive policies within the framework of international law has become an urgent necessity in light of the threats posed to regional peace and security.
The MHP leader criticized the Israeli government for fostering anti-Turkish sentiments and rhetoric, stating that provoking Türkiye and testing its patience must cease. He asserted that Türkiye does not seek confrontation but will not ignore threats to its sovereignty and national interests. Bahçeli warned that it is a strategic error for the Israeli administration to view Türkiye's capacity for peace and stability as a threat.
He reiterated that Türkiye's goal is not to engage in conflict with any nation, including Israel, but cautioned against misinterpreting Türkiye's commitment to peace as weakness or helplessness. Bahçeli's remarks reflect a broader concern regarding the implications of Israel's military actions on Türkiye's national security and regional stability.
