Rom Braslavski Appeals to Ben Gvir for Authority to Execute Terrorists
Rom Braslavski, a survivor of Hamas captivity, has made a striking appeal to National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, asking to be allowed to personally execute terrorists sentenced to death under legislation proposed by Ben Gvir's Otzma Yehudit party. During an interview on his personal podcast, Braslavski directly addressed Ben Gvir, stating, "Let me be the one who hangs them. I don't want a rope; I want a button. With my own hands, I will execute every terrorist in the State of Israel." In response, Ben Gvir assured Braslavski, "I will move heaven and earth to make that happen. I promise you that I will try and move heaven and earth so that it happens. And G-d willing, it is one of my greatest dreams to see you there." Ben Gvir elaborated on the execution method, confirming that it would be carried out by hanging. He expressed agreement with Braslavski's sentiments, stating, "They don't deserve to live, and you're right." The minister also discussed the changes he has implemented regarding the conditions of security prisoners in Israeli jails, contrasting them with previous standards. He recalled visiting prisons where he observed prisoners enjoying luxuries such as chocolates, television, and recreational activities. Ben Gvir remarked on the current state of prisons, saying, "Thank G-d, today we are in a completely different reality. They are suffering, it's difficult for them, they are miserable - and I'm glad they are miserable. That's the only thing that can provide some measure of correction and relief for the tremendous pain that you and all the others carry."
