Crytical Security Launches RDAi for Enhanced OT Device Protection
Crytical Security has unveiled a patented solution known as Rapid Detection, Alert, and Isolation (RDAi), designed to provide rapid and deterministic threat detection for operational technology (OT). This technology safeguards the embedded systems and connected devices that are vital for critical infrastructure, national security, and healthcare, all without disrupting ongoing operations.
As the urgency for robust cybersecurity measures escalates, especially with the rise of AI-driven attacks, the need for effective detection mechanisms has never been more critical. According to IBM’s Cost of a Data Breach Report 2026, AI-related attacks surged by 56% year over year. Furthermore, half of the organizations with security operations centers (SOCs) have already integrated AI agents into their security frameworks. In this fast-paced environment, the reliability of security signals is paramount.
Crytical Security's technology complements existing cybersecurity measures by addressing a crucial gap: the ability to verify whether a device remains in a trusted operating state. The RDAi system operates internally within each protected device, identifying unauthorized modifications to the device's instruction sets and providing reliable evidence of such changes. This high-confidence evidence enhances the capabilities of existing SOC, SIEM, and AI-assisted security workflows without necessitating a complete overhaul of current cybersecurity investments.
Dr. C. Kerry Nemovicher, CEO of Crytical Security, emphasized the importance of internal detection, stating that while external monitoring is effective, true detection must occur within the device itself. The RDAi system employs a small agent, referred to as a Probe, which operates non-disruptively within each device, focusing on Instruction Set Integrity Monitoring (iNSiM).
This internal monitoring is particularly vital in sectors like critical infrastructure, national security, and healthcare, where compromised devices can have severe implications for physical operations and public safety. Crytical Security is actively deploying its technology across commercial, utility, and federal cybersecurity environments, supported by a growing network of security technology providers and partners.
C. Lloyd Mahaffey, Executive Chairman of Crytical Security, noted that the market is shifting towards deterministic detection, with customers seeking technologies that enhance their existing security frameworks rather than replace them. The company is poised to announce further integrations and collaborations that will extend its device-level detection capabilities into established cybersecurity architectures.
Current OT and IoT cybersecurity solutions typically monitor devices externally, making inferences about potential threats. In contrast, RDAi provides immediate detection of threats from within devices, delivering high-fidelity alerts that security operations center personnel can trust and act upon.
