Mossad's Yossi Cohen Discusses Infiltrations at Iran's Fordow Nuclear Site
During the Galilee Conference on August 11, Yossi Cohen, the former director of Mossad, revealed that Israeli operatives have entered Iran's Fordow uranium enrichment facility on numerous occasions. This facility, located deep within a mountain near Qom, is regarded by Tehran as one of its most secure nuclear installations, designed to withstand aerial attacks and foreign interference. Cohen, who led Mossad from 2015 to 2021, described these operatives as having 'toured' or 'walked around' the facility multiple times.
Cohen also addressed the US military strike on Fordow that occurred during Operation Rising Lion in June 2025, referring to it as 'the fulfillment of all my dreams.' In response to this strike, Iran's Atomic Energy Organization characterized the damage as 'limited.' However, Cohen's account leaves some ambiguity, as he did not clarify whether Israeli operatives physically entered Fordow or if their activities were conducted through advanced surveillance and intelligence-gathering methods.
In a notable operation in 2018, under Cohen's leadership, Israeli operatives successfully extracted a significant cache of documents related to Iran's nuclear program from a warehouse in Tehran. Cohen also mentioned that Iran has enriched uranium to 60% purity, but he asserted that this level is still 'far from a bomb,' as weapons-grade uranium typically requires enrichment to around 90%.
