Ceva Logistics Data Breach Affects Retailers, Gamers, and Financial Institutions
Ceva Logistics, one of the largest shipping and logistics companies globally, has confirmed a data breach that has impacted numerous businesses relying on its services. The breach, which started on July 29, has resulted in the theft of personal information from customers of various companies, including names, home addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. This incident has caused significant disruptions, with shipping delays reported from at least eight warehouses across Europe.
Companies such as Bol, a Dutch online retail giant, have warned their customers that their data may have been compromised due to the breach. Bol anticipates delays and potential cancellations of customer orders as a result. Similarly, De Bijenkorf, a luxury retailer in the Netherlands, has confirmed that its customers' data was affected, leading to order delays.
Other notable organizations impacted include Ajax, a prominent football club, banking giant ING, and eyeglass manufacturer Ace & Tate, all of which reported issues related to their customers' shipping information. Valve, the video game company, also informed its customers that personal data was taken from Ceva's systems, particularly affecting those who purchased Steam hardware. Valve disclosed this information to customers on August 7, noting that Ceva retains shipping and delivery information for 90 days post-order.
As of now, Ceva Logistics has received data breach reports from ten organizations concerning this incident, highlighting the widespread implications of the cyberattack on its operations and its clients.
