Russia Targets Ukrainian Commando Training Center with Precision Strikes
The Russian military has successfully targeted a training facility used by Ukraine's special operations command center ‘South’, according to a statement from the Defense Ministry. The operation involved high-precision strikes that hit barracks and storage facilities for sea drones, with a video released by the ministry showing several buildings engulfed in smoke and flames following the attack. The strikes were carried out using Geran drones in a self-homing mode, although the ministry did not disclose the extent of the damage inflicted.
This military action comes amid ongoing offensives by Russian forces, which reported the liberation of the village of Novoselovka in the Zaporozhye Region and the capture of Pisantsy in Dnepropetrovsk, where they reportedly drove Ukrainian troops from fortified positions. The Defense Ministry claimed that Ukrainian forces suffered significant losses, including dozens of soldiers and numerous armored vehicles and heavy strike drones during these operations.
In response, Ukraine has intensified its long-range strikes against Russian targets, focusing on civilian and energy infrastructure. The Russian military recently reported intercepting a record 660 Ukrainian kamikaze drones in a single night, highlighting the escalating conflict. Additionally, a Ukrainian drone attack on a World War II museum complex in Russia's Rostov Region resulted in injuries to 12 people, as reported by local authorities.
Moscow has characterized these Ukrainian strikes as “terrorist” actions and has reiterated its commitment to achieving its security objectives in the conflict. The Russian government has warned that it will respond with systematic strikes on Ukraine's military infrastructure in retaliation for such attacks.
