FBI Memos Reveal Investigation into Trump as Possible Russian Asset
The White House has released newly declassified FBI memos detailing a counterintelligence investigation that began in 2017 following President Donald Trump's dismissal of FBI Director James Comey. This investigation, known as "Oxferd Comma," was prompted by national security concerns regarding whether Trump could be considered a Russian asset. The documents reveal that investigators aimed to determine if Trump was directed or controlled by the Russian Federation in a way that could threaten U.S. national security or violate federal laws. Additionally, the investigation sought to assess whether Trump and others obstructed or conspired to obstruct any related FBI inquiries. Comey, who served as FBI Director from 2013 to 2017, was appointed by former President Barack Obama and oversaw the initiation of the "Crossfire Hurricane" investigation in 2016, which looked into potential Russian interference in the election. Trump fired Comey in May 2017, initially citing his handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails as the reason for the dismissal. Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House for further comments regarding the release of these memos.
