Russian Man Arrested for Spying on Military for Ukraine
The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia has apprehended a man in the Nizhny Novgorod region for allegedly collecting intelligence on Russian military-industrial enterprises for Ukrainian special services. The detainee is identified as a member of Artpodgotovka, a terrorist organization banned in Russia. According to the FSB, he confessed to gathering information for Artpodgotovka and its leader, Maltsev, who has been residing in France since 2018 and is said to have collaborated with both French and Ukrainian intelligence agencies.
Artpodgotovka was established in 2013 with the objective of orchestrating an armed uprising and seizing power in Russia. Following the onset of Russia's special military operation, many of its leaders and members fled to France and aligned themselves with Ukrainian terrorist groups. The FSB has expressed frustration over the French Directorate General for Internal Security's repeated rejections of Russian extradition requests concerning Maltsev and his associates, despite multiple warnings regarding their terrorist activities. This incident highlights ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the complexities of international law enforcement cooperation.
